Employment exploration services

Tours, job shadows, and real experiences that help a person discover work they'd enjoy.

Before a job search comes a better question: what kind of work would this person actually like? Employment exploration answers it with real experiences instead of guesses.

What it looks like

  • Workplace tours and job shadows in fields the person is curious about.
  • Informational interviews with people doing the actual work.
  • Honest conversations about interests, strengths, and dealbreakers.
  • A clear picture at the end: the kinds of jobs worth pursuing next.

Who it's for

People with disabilities who want to work in the community but aren't sure yet what that should look like, including young adults leaving school and adults leaving center-based programs.

How it's paid for

Employment exploration is covered through Minnesota's waivers (CADI, DD, BI, and CAC) at no cost to the family, authorized by the county case manager.
