Individualized home supports

A steady support person alongside daily life, in the person's own home, on their own schedule.

Individualized home supports (IHS without training) means a trained support person is present and helping while daily life happens. They are not doing life for the person, but making sure it goes safely and well.

What a visit looks like

  • Help with daily routines: getting up, meals, and staying on schedule.
  • Medication reminders and support keeping health appointments.
  • Support with errands, shopping, and time in the community.
  • Household management: mail, bills, and keeping the day organized.
  • A consistent, familiar staff person the whole team can reach.

Who it's for

Adults and seniors who live in their own home (or family home) and need regular support and supervision to stay safe and independent, without needing hands-on skills teaching. If skill-building is the goal, see individualized home supports with training instead; we offer both.

How it's paid for

IHS is typically covered through Minnesota's waiver programs (CADI, DD, BI, CAC, or the Elderly Waiver) at no cost to the family. Your county case manager authorizes it; if you don't have one yet, call us and we'll point you to the right county contact.
